Two trains are traveling in the same direction.The first one leaves at 8 AM with a speed of 40km/hr and the second leaves at 11 AM with a speed of 60 km/hr. At what time will the second train catch the first train?

 As per the question we can arrange the given data for the two trains as,

Train 1

Speed - 40km/hr

Leaves at 8 AM

Train 2

Speed - 60km/hr

Leaves at 11 AM

Till 11 AM,

the distance travelled by train 1 is, 40x3= 120km

the distance travelled by train 2 is = 0 (as the train starts from there)

Let the two trains meets each other after 't' hours once the second train leaves

Distance covered by train 1 = Distance covered by train 2

120 + (40xt) = 60xt

120 = 60t-40t

120 = 20t

t = 6hours

So, the second train catches the first train after 6hours of its start

i.e 11AM + 6 hours = 5PM
