Definition of plastic body & elastic body

Plastic body
The bodies which do not regain their original dimensions after removal of deforming forces are called as plastic bodies.

These bodies can be deformed to a large extent by a small deforming force. Internal restoring force in such bodies are negligible.

Example - Clay, wall putty .


Elastic body
Bodies which return to their original dimensions after removal of deforming forces are called as elastic bodies.

Example - Quartz
